Nawaz Sharif chairs party consultative meeting in Raiwin

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif on Saturday chaired a party consultative meeting at Raiwind residence here to discuss political situation across the country.
Top party officials and government representatives attended the meeting including Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, besides Saad Rafique and Marriyum Aurangzeb.
During the meeting ex-PM Sharif was briefed about ongoing operation aimed to evict defiant protesters from Faizabad Interchange.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz were also among the attendees.
The former premier was briefed about crackdown against Islamabad protesters.
According to sources, the PML-N supremo directed party officials to avoid loss of life.
The meeting convened to discuss political and national issues, besides an operation against Islamabad sit-in by security officials.
Heavy contingents of police, FC and Rangers were deployed to Faizabad Interchange, where they are using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters after the federal capital was paralysed due to the sit-in which has been ongoing for almost three weeks.
